Linking Stellar Wallet to your Kinesis account

This walkthrough explains how to link your external Stellar-based wallet address with your Kinesis account to ensure you receive your KVT Yield.

Why link your external wallet?

Following the upgrade to the Stellar blockchain, users holding their KVTs in external Stellar-based wallets must link their wallet to their associated Kinesis accounts to receive KVT Yield payouts.

Address Linking is necessary to identify the external wallet where your KVTs are stored and the Kinesis account that will receive the yields.

Note: All KVT Yields are credited to your Kinesis account, regardless of where you store your KVTs.

Who needs to link their wallets?

• KVTs stored in an unlinked external wallet: Users who hold their KVTs in unlinked, standalone Stellar-based wallets must link them with their Kinesis account to receive KVT Yields.

• KVTs stored in an external wallet linked to the Kinesis platform: Users who have previously linked their standalone Stellar-based wallets to their Kinesis account will receive all eligible KVT Yields without any further action required from them.

• KVTs stored on the Kinesis platform: Users holding their KVTs on the Kinesis platform will be credited with their eligible KVT Yields automatically, without any further action required from them.

Kinesis urges all users to check their status and ensure that all the accounts in which they store their KVTs are listed on their Kinesis profile in the Yields tab. If your addresses in which you store your KVTs are already listed, no action will be required.

 If your wallet addresses are not linked, use the Address Linking widget in the Yields tab to link them. 

What to do before linking my Stellar wallet?

1. Set up a Kinesis account & verify your identity: If you don't have a Kinesis account yet, learn how to set it up here.

Make sure you have fully verified your identity before proceeding further.

2. Ensure you have an external, standalone Stellar-compatible wallet to complete the linking process. Popular wallet options include:

• Lobstr
• Solar Wallet
• StellarTerm

3. Establish a trustline: Before linking your Stellar wallet, you must establish a trustline with your Kinesis account by following the instructions in this guide.

How to link a Stellar wallet address

Step 1: Access the Linked Addresses Feature

• Navigate to the "Yield" tab of your Kinesis account.
• Go to the "External" section and find the "Linked Addresses" feature.

Step 2: Select Currency and Network

• From the currency dropdown menu, choose "KVT".
• From the network dropdown menu, select "Stellar".

Step 3: Provide Your Stellar Wallet Address

• Enter the address of the Stellar standalone wallet you wish to link.

The pop-up screen will display the steps to verify your wallet, along with the destination tag, from your Stellar wallet to your Kinesis account.

Step 4: Continue Verification with to Stellar Lab

• Go to Stellar Lab at: https://lab.stellar.org/

• Click "Connect Wallet" on the top-right corner.

• A pop-up will appear to select the wallet extension

  • Note: If a wallet is marked "not available," it means the required extension is not installed. Users must install the wallet extension to enable selection.

  • Follow the instructions to connect the wallet. Once it's successfully connected, proceed with the next steps.

Step 5: Build the Transaction

• Go to the "Transactions" tab and click "Build Transaction."

• Under "Source Account," click "Get connected wallet address."

• Under "Transaction Sequence Number," click "Fetch next sequence."

• Leave all other fields unchanged.

   

Step 6: Add the Operation:

• In the "Operation" section:

• Then select "Manage Data" for "Operation Type."

• For "Entry Name," label it as “Message” (This is an important step)

• For "Entry Value," paste the HIN No. to link the standalone wallet. (This is an important step )

• Leave the other fields unchanged

Step 7: Sign the Transaction

• Click "Sign in Transaction Signer."

• Scroll to the "Signatures" section and select "Sign with wallet extension."

Step 8: View XDR

• After signing, click "View in XDR viewer."

• Copy the "base-64 encoded XDR."

Note: In the JSON viewer, a green signature means success. A red signature indicates failure—retry if needed.

Paste XDR into Kinesis platform

• Go back to the "Link a new address" screen on the Kinesis platform

• Paste the copied XDR into the field.

Step 9: Complete the Linking Process

•  Click "Verify"

Once the deposit is successfully validated, your Stellar wallet address will be linked, completing the wallet linking process.
