This support article outlines how to establish a trustline for Kinesis Velocity Tokens (KVT) on a Stellar wallet.
Setting up a trustline is necessary for Kinesis users who intend to hold their KVTs on a Stellar wallet outside of the Kinesis platform.
What is a trustline?
A trustline is an opt-in process that allows an account to hold a specific asset. To do so, the account must establish a trustline with the issuing account using the change_trust operation. This helps track the asset’s balance and can limit the amount an account holds.
The Stellar network utilises a trustline to enable users to hold and interact with assets other than the native Stellar Lumens (XLM).
Establishing a trustline signifies user trust in an issuer for a specific asset, such as KVT. This process enables the user to receive and hold the asset in their wallet. Without a trustline established, moving KVTs to the external wallet will fail.

Establishing a KVT trustline
1. Choose a Stellar Wallet
You can choose any external Standalone wallet as long as it's Stellar-compatible. Popular options include:
Each Stellar wallet will follow a similar process as the Lobstr Wallet outlined below:
2. Find your Issuer and Asset Information
To set up a trustline, the user will need the following:
Issuer Address: GCHDQROCJXS4TPR5YKVT2EMFZKF6LAA7UEJTHRPGB2AQODOT66HGSAUD
Domain name: kinesis.money
(this is the issuer address, available in Stellar Explorer for KVT)
3. Fund Stellar Wallet with Lumens (XLM)
Users will require a small balance of XLM in their wallet to cover the transaction fee and the minimum reserve amount required to establish the trustline.
4. Adding the trustline:
The specific steps will vary across wallets. Here's an example using Lobstr Wallet:
Step 1: Open and log in to your Lobstr wallet app.
Step 2: Navigate to the Assets section.
Step 3: Locate the Add Asset or similar button and click on it.
Step 4: Enter the KVT asset code - KVT .
For some wallets, you might need to add the Kinesis KVT issuer account information (your unique wallet address).
Step 5: Click Confirm and Proceed to add the trustline to your wallet.
Step 6: For some wallets, you might need to additionally approve the transaction. This may involve confirming your password or using your preferred 2FA method.
Once the transaction has been approved, your Stellar wallet and your Kinesis Velocity Token will be connected via a trustline.
