How to mint new KAU and KAG

In this video, Mike explains how to create entirely new Kinesis gold and silver-backed digital currencies, KAU and KAG, through the process of minting.

You will also learn how to add the newly minted currencies into circulation within the Kinesis Monetary System.

Please note that the video below shows an earlier version of the Kinesis platform, and our team is working on updating it soon. The process, however, remains the same.

Signing into the Kinesis Mint

If you have not yet created your Kinesis Mint account, please follow these steps:

Step 1

1. To begin creating your Kinesis Mint account, go to the sign-up page here.

2. Choose your account type (Individual or Corporate) then click Next.

3. Enter your details (name, surname and email address) to set up your Kinesis Mint account, then click Next.

4. On the next page, you set up your account password. Click Create Account once you're happy with it.

5. You will receive a welcome email with the activation link button. Click the button to complete your sign-up process.

By clicking Create Account, you agree to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Note: You will be required to fund your minting account once created in order to purchase Kinesis currency via the mint.

Depositing funds into the Kinesis Mint

Note: To mint new KAU and KAG, you need to first link your Kinesis platform account with your Kinesis Mint account. Check out our user guide to learn how.

Step 2

1. To start minting, you’ll need to deposit funds. Simply click the Deposit funds button to proceed with your deposit.

2. Enter the currency and the amount you wish to deposit, then click Transfer to confirm your deposit instruction.

3. After confirming your transfer, you will receive an email with payment instructions, including your payment reference number.

Once your payment is processed, your funds will appear in your Kinesis Mint account.

Note: Each new deposit must be approved by the Kinesis operations team before funds become available. We aim to process this promptly.

Minting KAU and KAG to your Kinesis account

You can create your own Kinesis currencies by depositing fiat (US Dollars). Each KAU and KAG coin is backed 1:1 by physical gold and silver bullion.

Step 1

To begin, select your minting preference from the Settings tab within your Kinesis Mint account.

Step 2

Once your account has been linked and funds have been deposited, select the tile for the currency you wish to mint. In this example, we will be minting Kinesis KAU.

Please note: The minimum minting amounts are 100 KAU or 200 KAG.

Step 3

You will be taken to the market view page for Kinesis gold (KAU).

Here, you can see the price chart for the KAU asset, review the order book depth, and view any open orders you may have. To place a new order, click BUY to proceed.

Step 4

Complete the place order details by entering the number of lots of KAU (100 KAU=1 lot), or KAG (200 KAG = 1 lot), you wish to purchase and whether you would like to place a market or limit order.

Step 5

An order confirmation screen will appear, showing the destination address for your minted currencies, the total fees incurred (0.45%), and the total cost of the order.

Once you're satisfied with the order details, click the CONFIRM button to place the order.
