A Destination Tag/Memo is a 9-digit number designated to each Ripple (XRP) account.
It is used to identify the receiver in a Ripple transaction, an additional address feature necessary for identifying a transaction recipient beyond a wallet address.
A destination tag
In order to process a transaction on the Ripple (XRP) network we will require you to enter a ‘Destination Tag’ or ‘Memo’, that is unique to your account, in addition to an XRP address.
When is a Tag/Memo required?
- If you are sending cryptocurrency that uses Destination Tag technology to Kinesis, you must input a correct Tag/Memo.
- Both an address and a tag/memo are required to receive cryptocurrency. If you send funds without a tag/memo or with an incorrect Tag/Memo, your funds cannot be credited to your account.
- If you are sending cryptocurrency off of Kinesis to a private/personal wallet, a tag/memo may not be required.
What happens if I did not use a ‘destination tag’ or ‘memo’ when making a transfer?
You will need to contact Kinesis support and provide us with a full transaction hash for further investigation.
