Kinesis provides a range of deposit options, tailored to users based on their location.

For Australia-based Individual account holders looking to deposit Australian dollars (AUD), we recommend using NPP and Direct Entry cross-border transfers, as outlined below.

For more options, see all our step-by-step deposit guides here.

Note that the deposit option detailed in this guide is available exclusively to Individual Kinesis account holders residing in Australia, regardless of where their bank account is held. These restrictions are required to meet compliance obligations.

Example: If your Kinesis account is registered to an Australian address, you can deposit AUD even if your bank account is based in the UK.

However, if your registered residence is in the United Kingdom, you won’t be able to make AUD-to-AUD deposits, no matter where your AUD bank account is based, due to local regulations.

Note that to deposit funds into the Kinesis platform, you must first complete identity verification, as outlined in this guide.

Depositing Australian dollars from Australia:

Australian users can deposit their Australian dollars (AUD) currency funds directly into the Kinesis platform without the need for currency conversion, using secure and efficient NPP (New Payments Platform) and Direct Entry money transfers.

What is NPP?

The New Payments Platform (NPP) is a real-time payment system that enables instant AUD transfers between participating Australian banks, available 24/7. With NPP, Kinesis users can quickly fund their accounts using just the BSB and account number.

What is Direct Entry?

Direct Entry is a traditional electronic banking method used in Australia for scheduled AUD transfers between banks. While not instant, it offers a reliable way to deposit funds into your Kinesis account, typically taking 1–2 business days to process.

What are the fees for depositing?

For Australian residents depositing AUD into the Kinesis platform, a flat fee equivalent to 5 EUR (charged in AUD) applies to AUD-to-AUD deposits made via NPP or Direct Entry.

Please note that the external bank, from which you are sending funds, might apply additional charges that might vary. These fees are not affiliated with Kinesis.

How to deposit AUD from an Australian bank account:

Step 1: Click on the Assets tab from the left-hand navigation panel and select AUD from the available currency list, then select the Deposit option.

Alternatively, you can also click the Deposit option in the drop-down menu, located in the top-right corner of your main dashboard.

Step 2: As you click 'Deposit', a pop-up window will appear. Select Australia from the Preferred deposit location options.

For an additional layer of security, you’ll be asked to provide identification (Government ID, driver’s license or passport). If possible, use the same ID as you did to verify your Kinesis account.

Step 3: Once you have submitted your ID number, simply click ‘Create’ to trigger the creation of your AUD account with your unique bank details.

Although for the majority of users the process is instantaneous, in some cases, manual review of your details might take longer. We will notify you via email when your details are ready.

Step 4: Your AUD account details will include the recipient Bank and Account Holder Name, along with your Account Number and BSB number.

You can now use your new Kinesis AUD account to send funds from an external bank account and the Kinesis platform. To start, minimise the Kinesis tab in your browser and log into your external, Australian bank account in a new tab.

Note that AUD can only be deposited from an external bank account held in your own name.

Step 5: When setting up your bank transfer, carefully copy the deposit details from your Kinesis AUD account and paste them into the recipient fields of your external bank’s transfer form. This ensures your funds are received without issue.

Allow 3–5 working days for the funds to clear, though they often arrive sooner. Once your deposit is received, your Kinesis AUD account will be credited, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.

What if my deposit is rejected?

If your deposit is unsuccessful for any reason, the funds will be returned to the bank account they were originally sent from. To avoid delays or redirection, make sure your funds are sent from a bank account registered in the same name as your Kinesis account.

Deposits may be rejected if there are special characters or numerals in your name or surname, or if your registered address details don’t match the information on the sending or receiving accounts.

If you need assistance, our customer support team is available 24/7. Start a chat via this link or visit the dedicated Kinesis support page here.
